Don’t let the title mislead you. I love to read. So you
would think this would start by me saying that I delve into a book any chance I
get; and while I consider myself a bookworm, it just takes a lot to get me to
commit to reading a book. Why? Because I get so emotionally wrapped up in the
characters and the plots that you would think finishing a story is life and
death. And in a way it is. Reading a decent book takes a lot out of me. God
forbid it’s actually an amazing book and I’m covered in a pool of tears by the
end.
Like so many other people, I become the character. I am the
protagonist. I live where they live, I do what they do, I eat what they eat.
Literally. I remember reading The Lovely Bones before I knew they were going to
make a trippy movie out of it and the character drinks lime Kool-Aid at one
point. I made a batch that night. This applies to virtually any book I put all
my focus into. Except odd ones, like Catcher in the Rye. Not saying it wasn’t a
good book I just wanted to slap and verbally attack Holden, the main character,
the entire time.
I encourage people to read anything, except when you’re at
the literary mercy of the author. To most, being a victim to a really brilliant
novel would be a good thing. I see it as a form of warfare tactics involving
torture. But then again I cry at anything, which I’ve probably mentioned
before. So it’s a shame, but I won’t be jumping into anything serious for a few
weeks or so. I’ll maybe have a casual romance with one or two trite books, but
nothing serious.
You can tell I’m back in school because I’m not being overly
repetitious with words as usual. I’m
using Boy Meets World to recover from the mythical distress I’m currently
experiencing. It’ll probably help everything. While I’m hyperbolizing about my recent
run-in with a dramatic book, I invite you to just read. In fact, just read my
blog! Just kidding, this isn’t any form of genius but I do encourage you to get
really wrapped up in a book. You’d be surprised how much you can feel for the
characters and plot. And then I also invite you to watch a silly show. As long
as it’s not one that’ll outdo any form of mental exercise you did by reading
(I’m talking to you, E!). Happy reading!
And for all your troubles of reading this post here's a fun video, in case you haven't seen it already:
