Unfortunately, I have already started school. This is fortunate because I need to learn things and be smart and do good things and such; unfortunate because it involves a dent in my sleep schedule. While not early to most people, having to wake up at 7:30 is torture to me. It reminds me of when I would have to wake up that early or earlier to go to school from 8-3. In retrospect 8-3 is ridiculous. Paired with attitudes and angst, lack of sleep is not good for teens. Actually, I read somewhere that teens need more sleep than small children. I assume that's applicable to those in their early 20s as well. It's for sure applicable to me. But teens definitely need their sleep. Having a cranky teen is (from what I'm told) like waking up a bear. So that in addition to middle school is just cruel and unusual punishment.
I'm trying to segue into talking about how horrible middle school was; but I'm so tired that it's just turned into a non sequitur and sloppy writing on my behalf. Anyway, middle school was miserable. It needs to be abolished. The 28th amendment should state "all children ages 12-14 get a pass at going out if they do not want to." I'm sure in the long run it's good to be forced into the social awkwardness that is involved with being 12 and "in a relationship." However, for most people it's just a terrible age. I look back and shutter because I looked like a vampire back then. I acted stupid and as previous blog posts will show I had a tendency to only care about trivial matters.
The other unfortunate thing about middle school is all the back stabbing that takes place. It's worse when you go to a small private school where you have known everyone for what feels like an eternity. If you think you had a happy junior high experience think back and really think about how your time was and make sure you aren't just covering up those feelings with ones that are satisfactory. I can guarantee you that your life was bad. Even if it was for a day. At some point your hair was greasy and you smelled. You probably were laughed at, at one time or another, and you were probably friendless for at least a second. You likely embarrassed yourself and were the butt of the joke.
Now that you remember how awful it was, you're probably wondering why I'm bringing it up. Besides the fact that I think middle schools should be banned it's because I'm angry that I have to wake up super early for class every other day. That's all. I want my readers to understand how much I hate waking up early and equate it to a terrible time in their lives when things hardly had silver linings. And now that my melodramatic analogies are coming to a close, I wish everyone a happy Tuesday. I hope you do not have to wake up very early and that if you do you at least enjoy it a little.
P.S. I'm sorry if you thought you were going to hear a horrible story from my time in middle school. Those stories are locked up in a safe somewhere in the clouds never to get out.
