Either my friends are sad sacks, or everyone has just been in a funk lately. I was born into a family with lame puns so naturally this also applies to inspirational sayings. I'm drawn to them. But there's a time and a place for everything. Those sayings are way better suited for when you're in your room left alone to ponder life. You don't slip people those sayings when they are crying and down to their wits-end. So what do you do when people are in need of encouraging words but not necessarily a ton of bible verses? You be their friend. That's all you can do. And then you refer them to this blog post. I'm about to drop some feelings on you.
Everyone has rough times and times where they are a little sad for no reason. And then there are times where people are so distraught that "a little sad" doesn't cover it. Maybe that's you right now. Maybe you think you are going through something that few people will understand. I'm not going to tell you that "no, you're not alone." That's crap. Of course you feel alone. No one else in this world understands what you, yourself are going through right now. Absolutely nothing I say is more important than knowing that. And perhaps that comforts you and perhaps that makes you feel even more alone. Whichever one you are, it's okay, because it just is. So no one understands exactly what you're going through? They don't have to. You don't owe that to anyone. It is not your job to explain yourself to anyone. If you're going through this rough time, it is your job to try and get out of that. That in and of itself is a hard road.
If you're like me and you've suffered through so much anxiety and depression then the only thing that will help you is yourself. I know that sounds so stupid. But it's true. Do you think I write this blog for attention? Well, a little bit. But it's because writing is my passion. This blog may not be my legacy or my best writing by any means, but it's what helps me cope with everything that goes on in life. You need to find your passion. How do you do that, though, when you're so upset and emotional? I don't know. Most people just stumble upon their passions. I had a mom who taught me pretty decent English. I was lucky. But if you don't know, you're the luckiest person of all. You can explore so much and try on so many different roles until you find one that suits you. However, you're never going to do that just sitting on your butt all day watching Law and Order reruns.
You don't need to feel like you want to make a difference in the world, but it does help; you just need to take everything one step at a time. Again, super lame inspirational saying but it's applicable. Life sucks if you keep looking at it that way. Even the wealthiest people in the world have some void in their lives. It's only up to you to fill that void with whatever you think is fitting. Remember how I said that you don't owe anyone anything? Well that's still true. You do, however, owe yourself everything. Even if you don't feel like it. I'm not sure what your path in life will entail. I'm not even sure what I'm doing with my own life. But if you can just find the one thing you're super passionate for, then you can strive to make every day worth that one thing. And if you still can't seem to find that one thing, it's okay. Like I said, that just means you have the luckiest road ahead possible.
